Donate Your Time

Cat Cuddlers Club You can volunteer to come in and sit with the cats, brush them, clean their ears and play with them. Hours are from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm every day (except Sunday). How long you want to stay is up to you. This is a great oppurtunity for seniors and children above 14 year of age (with a parent).

Dog Walkers Club Again, you can come in any of the above hours and walk the dogs, brush them, play ball and have fun!! Needless to say, this for the fit and young at heart.

Volunteer Kennel Staff Of course we ALWAYS need help cleaning and feeding in the mornings and tidying up in the afternoon.

VIP (Volunteer Incentive Program) This program is designed for people that need help spaying/neutering their pets but can't necessarily afford the surgery. WE CAN HELP! All you need to do is help us clean in the morning (must be here at 8am) and once your hours are completed then we can sell you a discounted spay/neuter voucher to take to any of our local vets to cover the surgery costs. A female dog requires 8 hours of cleaning and then the voucher would cost $68.00. A male dog is 6 hours and $55, a female cat is 4 hours and $56, and a male cat is 2 hours and $33. Bring a friend along and you can combine your hours to get it done faster. Please call us if you have any questions.

TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) This program is geared towards spaying/neutering our free roaming cats here in Steuben County, we are all aware that we have an overpopulation of cats here in the county and we need your help to help them. Unfortunately our shelter in struggling with funds and cannot afford to spay/neuter every cat in the county but with your help we might be able to do more than we are right now. We provide traps here at our shelter (we require a $35.00 deposit but is returned to you when our trap comes back) and ask that you donate $56.00 for the surgery. All of our local vets are aware of this program, all you need to do is call and make an appointment with them to know when you need to trap any local free roaming cats. Please call the shelter for any additional information or questions.

Volunteers for off-site events Such as going into classrooms to introduce the K.I.N.D. newsletter, picking up newspapers and donated food, off-site adoptions and information booths, etc.

Foster Program We need people willing to take animals into their home on a temporary basis, mostly for medical needs (pregnant, mamas with newborns, animals that are to young, etc.) and Humane Society pays for their food and treatment. When the problem is resolved, they are then returned to our adoption program.

Be a nurse Tend to animals that require extra time and care.

Be an advocate Nursing homes, retirement homes, and schools.

Be part of an emergency hotline Abuse, illness, and/or any emergency shelter need (apply with shelter manager).
